Candid

Terms of Service

Last updated: 10 July 2026

These Terms govern your use of Candid (“the app”), provided by CoachAI Ltd (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. They supplement Apple’s standard EULA where the app is obtained through the App Store.

1. The service

Candid is a private journalling app with an optional AI companion, “The Confidant”. Some features require a paid subscription.

2. Eligibility & your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use Candid. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account, and for providing accurate account information.

3. Your content

Your journal entries and conversations are yours. You grant us only the limited licence needed to store, display, and process your content to operate the app — including sending content you submit to the Confidant to our AI processor to generate responses (see the Privacy Policy). We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it to advertise.

4. Acceptable use

Don’t use the app unlawfully, don’t attempt to breach its security or access other users’ data, and don’t misuse the AI features to generate harmful or illegal content.

5. The Confidant is not professional advice

The Confidant is an AI companion for reflection. It is not a therapist, clinician, or crisis service and does not provide medical, legal, or professional advice. If you are in crisis or may be at risk, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line (e.g. Samaritans 116 123 in the UK, or call/text 988 in the US). AI output can be inaccurate — use your own judgement.

6. Subscriptions

7. Availability and changes

We may modify or discontinue features. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

8. Termination

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms.

9. Disclaimers and liability

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or content beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud). Our total liability arising out of the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, save that you may bring proceedings in your country of residence where required by law.
